To kick off this week’s EXHIBITORLIVE Show in Las Vegas, GES Global hosted a party for clients at the Red Square Restaurant and Lounge at Mandalay Bay. The GES Global team was excited to dance and socialize with colleagues before the start of one of their industry’s biggest conferences of the year.
GES Global, an international event marketing company known for its engaging experiences at live events, leveraged Pixe Social’s social marketing solution to extend their engagement through the power of social media. The solution captured 142 fun photos of party attendees that streamed live to the GES Global Facebook Page. Each photo was branded with the GES Global logo and included their show hashtag #NewHeights. Attendees also provided their email address to instantly receive a link to share their party photos with friends on their own social pages.
Take a look below at some of our favorite party shots and view the entire album here.

Top Event Technology Trends for 2015
After providing the official social photo sharing solution for CES 2015 last month, we began to think about what trends in the consumer technology market will transfer over to the events industry for the New Year. Technology has drastically transformed the way event managers and attendees
communicate over the past few years, so what do they have to look forward to? Read on to find out.
Digital Experiences. Event attendees, especially millennials, crave well-rounded experiences at trade shows. Uninteresting educational sessions and irrelevant speakers won’t hold their attention for long, so why not leverage the number one distractor? Digital devices such as smart phones and tablets provide another outlet for event organizers to connect with their attendees. Online polling platforms, live social media chats, and interactive photo contests are all powerful activities that will contribute to a memorable show experience.
Integrated Platforms. As of 2013, custom apps are almost a requirement for any show trying to compete on a global level, but how can your event stand out? Show apps should be the sole resource for attendees to ask questions, look up booth information, schedule meetings & sessions, and network. Attendees should not have to download multiple apps or open more than one webpage to answer every question they have throughout your event. Integration is the answer to the modern attendee’s desire for simplification and convenience when attending an event.
365 Event Connection. With social networking apps like Facebook and Twitter connecting us to our friends, brands, and celebrities 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, why shouldn’t event organizers reach out to their potential attendees all year-long as well? Event organizers can now leverage one app that becomes an umbrella for all of your association’s or industry’s needs. Also attendees can have access to year-round updates via newsletters, blogs, social media posts, press releases, and more.

Beyond Feather Boas and Crazy Glasses. Green Screen Technology Can Take Your Firm to the top of a Mountain or Far into the Social Sharing Universe
Guest blog post by Michelle Burno, Bruno Group Signature Events
Event marketers have known for some time that taking photos of customers at trade shows and corporate gatherings enhances the attendee experience and delivers myriad benefits to the company. In the age of social media, digital photos are not only popular; they’re proven drivers of online engagement. With green screen technology, companies can increase the value of event photos even further.
Green Screen—also referred to as Chroma Key—technology allows photographers to superimpose subjects onto the digital background of a photo. For example, a booth visitor or conference attendee who poses in front of a green screen can appear in the photo as if he or she is elsewhere—on the top of a mountain, flying through space, or on the cover of a magazine.
Besides being a form of entertainment for guests, green screen-enhanced photos provide companies with a number of advantages:
Creativity. Green screen effects offer companies an unlimited amount of creative latitude to tell a story, make a statement or delight customers. It allows them to use the photos as extensions of a larger marketing strategy.
Branding. Adding background imagery and messaging that aligns with the firm’s brand positioning makes every photo more impactful, especially when they’re shared on social media.
Savings. Physically creating a set with props and a background at an event is not only more expensive than the digital alternative, it is far less flexible and much more time consuming. Green screens are stationary and low maintenance, while digital background images can be changed and alternated with every photo.
Excitement. The green screen set up during an event attracts visitors. Most attendees understand what the green backdrop is and when passersby see the photo shoots taking place, they are naturally drawn into the activity.
Control. Green screen effects help companies control the quality and intent of the photo. Without a digital background, firms have to rely more heavily on the subjects to impart the meaning or the context of the photo.
Social photo booth software, which automates photo taking and facilitates online sharing and engagement, is becoming more popular in event settings. The photos that result are shared and posted far more often than text-only messages. And, when digital imagery is added to the background of the photos, they become even more shareable and the company’s message along with them.

How Marketing Agencies Manage Exhibit Programs
Guest blog post by Michelle Bruno, Bruno Group Signature Events
Many companies rely on marketing and advertising agencies to help them maintain brand consistency and cohesive messaging across various channels including trade show exhibits. Often, exhibitions are just one component of a larger campaign, and the decisions that marketing firms make around graphics, booth design, in-booth activities, and even technology have to fit within some very specific parameters.
A good fit for the audience. As with all marketing initiatives, booth features, especially devices or technologies, have to appeal to the target audience. Something that might be hugely appealing to a hip, tech savvy crowd could easily flop with a more traditional audience. The better bet for marketers is make selections that have broad appeal across different age groups and demographics.
A match for the campaign. Marketing companies are charged with making sure that whatever tactics they choose to employ in a booth reinforce the brand positioning they have developed for their clients. Dan Katz, president of LA ads based in Los Angeles, describes this requirement as making sure the “idea doesn’t wag the campaign.”
Customizable. Colors, images, and taglines are crucially important to marketers. They look for ways to take standard offerings—booth properties, giveaway items, collateral, games—and customize them to fit the client’s marketing strategy. Before LA ads selected Pixe Social’s social marketing solution for use in their client’s trade show exhibit, they made sure they could insert a custom image into the photos.
On trend. As a rule, marketing firms prefer to stay abreast of trends in design, communication, and technology when advising clients. Fleshing out a lead-generation activity based on selfies and social media, for example, is more forward thinking than handing out compact disks or inviting visitors to spin a roulette wheel for prizes (unless it’s a gaming show).
Cost-effective. Marketing companies are the eyes and ears of the client when it comes to a trade show budget. At the same time, they have to make a profit themselves. One way they reach both of those objectives is to seek out suppliers that offer competitive pricing and offerings that complement the agency’s value-added services of strategy, design, project management, and fulfillment.
Easy-to-use. Trade shows are unique environments. Booth staffers are typically much more focused on selling than they are on managing any non-sales activity in the booth. With that need in mind, marketers look for activations that don’t burden the client unnecessarily. LA ads selected a social photo booth for their client because it was an end-to-end solution.
As intermediaries, marketing agencies play a unique role—to meet specific standards (their clients and their own), demonstrate creativity, and reach campaign objectives. They are constantly on the lookout for solutions that can serve their customers and help them bring all of the pieces of the program together easily, quickly, and cost effectively.

Five Creative Ways to “Socialize” Your Events
Guest blog post by Michelle Bruno, Bruno Group Signature Events
The ground rules of most gatherings have changed. Because of the increasingly mobile and social world in which we live, guests desire and even expect to share their live experiences with online friends. Here are five ways that event organizers can facilitate a fun and social experience for their participants.
Social Photo Booth. The 2014 Reunion of University of Notre Dame Alumni was a prime example of what’s possible when you put former classmates who haven’t seen each other in years in front of a social photo booth with Kelly green wigs and foam numbers (for the years they graduated). Guests at this year’s event “seized the day” with the digital photos created and posted online by the Pixe Social Photo Booth app.
Trivia Contest. Notre Dame’s reunion team deployed another secret social weapon to broadcast their guests’ antics online. The school hired a comedian to capture alumni responses to the first-ever Notre Dame Trivia Contest on video. Top performers vied for tickets to the Notre Dame/Stanford football game this fall and the video footage was edited and placed on YouTube where it has received over 2,400 views.
Social Media for Good. The recent #ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in which individuals shared videos of themselves dumping buckets of ice water over their heads to raise awareness about the life-altering disease demonstrates how well social good and social media go together. Live gatherings are perfect opportunities to enlist participants in activities that bond them together in thought-provoking ways that they can also share online.
Selfie Scavenger Hunt. A scavenger hunt is an excellent way to promote team building and bring out the competitive spirit. And, when it involves social media, the whole world can follow along. Organizers of the Notre Dame Alumni reunion instructed their guests to look for specific campus landmarks—using vague photos as clues—and take selfies at the locations. The first persons to arrive and tweet their photos out on Twitter received prizes.
Social Vending Machines. Most people know how to use a “regular” vending machine: users put coins in the slot, push some buttons, and grab what comes out. But, some companies have added a social media component to the exercise. Rather than putting money into the machine, participants post to Twitter or Facebook to trigger a response. Social vending machines transform even mundane tasks into exciting social experiences.
With some creativity, almost any experience can be socialized. What have you done to give your guests their allotted fifteen minutes of fame online?

The Introverts' Guide to Successful Networking at Tradeshows
Guest blog post by Nicholas Weeks, Operations and Assets Coordinator
The Pixe team joined our friends at a2z, Inc. in a week-long series of team building activities designed to foster cross-functional team work and communication. At the start of the week, every team member completed a Myers-Briggs Personality Assessment. This test analyzes and reveals how an individual prefers to use his/her perception and judgment. Under the system, a unique letter represents each of the four main communication characteristics to signify which communication style we prefer in both professional and personal relationships.
The first, and usually most telling, category is either an “I” to represent Introversion or an “E” to represent Extroversion. Introverts are not necessarily shy, they just prefer to process ideas and concepts internally in large social settings. Extroverts, on the other hand, thrive in large groups and can quickly process and verbalize their opinions. So how do executives with “I” personality type survive in the hullabaloo at a trade show or conference, and successfully interact with event attendees in their booth before and during an event?
Pre-Event
This is the most important stage for any team, especially when you have any “I” team members. For me personally, being a very strong “I”, it’s best to have my pitch down a couple weeks beforehand and have 2-3 small talking points in case I need to approach someone. Perfecting the pitch helps you more in the long-run to develop confidence and the ability to talk to anyone, cutting down on inevitable pre-event anxiety. Your talking points encourage natural conversation rather than an awkward silence followed by meaningless chatter that provides no real value.
During the Event
From past experiences, I’ve realized there are two types of successful conversations while exhibiting at an event.

During the Event
From past experiences, I’ve realized there are two types of successful conversations while exhibiting at an event.
- The Booth: Anyone who approaches your booth is there for a reason; they are curious or interested in learning more. This cuts down on pressure because the conversation will have a predetermined path. With any booth demonstration, I rely heavily on the pre-event planning. With all of the practice and preparation one has put into the introductory pitch, one already the key support system in place to break the ice.
- Show Floor: Instead of starting off with your pitch, all you have to do is introduce yourself followed by a brief description of the company, and now the ball is in their court. To me, this is the easier of the two conversations. As an introvert, I tend to be more of a listener and keep my thoughts to myself to analyze while others talk.
- Wind down time: When you ask any introvert they will say that they need their own space to get focused, reorganized, and time for reflection. Usually the hour after an event ends is the time that is most critical.
- Take breaks: During the event, it’s useful to clear your mind every couple hours or so. If the floor gets slow, take advantage of this time to walk and clear your head.
- Don’t worry: It’s okay to make mistakes and they are going to happen anyways. So what if the last pitch you gave wasn’t the best? That’s the best part about tradeshows, there are usually hundreds of people that you will talk to next, by the end of the day one fumbled line will be the last thing on your mind.
- Have Fun: The most important part of the tradeshow for me is the experience in itself. I have found that the more you relax and try to have fun, the better the results you will have. People love fun and when you product incorporates fun naturally, it’s easier to relax.

Pixe Social and Brad's Raw Foods
Brad’s Raw Foods recently exhibited their “Brad’s Raw Crunchy Kale” products at Expo West. To welcome visitors in their booth, and provide them with a fun experience, Brad’s Raw Foods leveraged the Pixe Social photo booth solution.
Pixe has been a partner in Brad’s Raw Foods’ success for almost a year now, during this short period Pixe Social has engaged Brad's Raw Foods' audience at five leading trade show events.
When Pixe Social connected with Brad’s Raw Foods in Spring of 2013, Pixe Social offered a unique opportunity to Brad's Raw Foods to showcase their products to a wider set of food industry event attendees and fans. It all started at the 2013 Summer Fancy Foods Show (SFFS) in New York City, where Brad’s Raw Foods boosted its social media presence by making the most of a free trial offer from Pixe.
By collecting 175 fun photos and testimonials from attendees at SFFS, Brad’s Raw Foods realized the amazing potential for showcasing the emotional connections their fans share with their brand using Pixe. The enthusiastic team members at Brad’s Raw Foods do a great job motivating booth visitors to click their photos wearing the signature tagline “I <3 Kale” sunglasses. Attendees love being able to express their support and appreciation of the Brad’s Raw Foods brand while sharing their memorable event photos with friends and family online.
"We are so happy that we discovered Pixe Social, and have been using it for our biggest trade shows and events for the past year. The photo booth is always a huge hit with our fans and everyone always comments on how interactive and well-designed it is! We love how easy it is to customize, and the enthusiasm and assistance of the Pixe Social team has been absolutely invaluable." -Director of Communications & Social Media for Brad's Raw Foods |
As we entered a new year, the partnership between Pixe Social and Brad’s Raw Foods gained even more onsite and online visibility at the Winter Fancy Foods Show 2014 and the Natural Products Expo West 2014. Fans of Brad’s Raw Foods look forward to not just yummy treats at events, they can also share their love with every ‘photomonial’ they capture and share on leading social media sites.
When attendees have an experience to look forward to with their beloved brand, it creates a deeper connection that develops into a lasting customer relationship.
With many more events to come in 2014, the Pixe team is looking forward to accompanying Brad’s Raw Foods in its continued journey through another year of great social media engagement.
