IMEX Engages Event Attendees and Online Fans through Innovative Social Technology, Powered by Pixe Social

IMEX Frankfurt and America are the leading international exhibitions for the incentive travel, meetings and events industry. The annual conferences attract thousands of global industry influencers because of the cutting-edge technology and innovative resources. For the spring 2014 Show in Frankfurt, Germany, IMEX set out to discover a unique way to create viral buzz around their already popular event.

As Senior Online Community Manager of IMEX Group, Miguel Neves looked to Pixe Social to join the IMEX Social Team at IMEX Frankfurt and America 2014, to leverage the social sharing power of Pixe Social’s tablet-based software, Pixe Encore. Neves wanted to produce a more visual view of IMEX America that included more entertainment and wasn’t so business-formal.

The partnering Social Teams reported live from the show floor, promoting what each individual booth was exhibiting or demonstrating for attendees. By creating a custom @IMEXSocialTeam Twitter profile, online fans could view a live feed from the show floor and feel as if they were experiencing the show themselves. The 268 photos shared by the Social Teams at IMEX Frankfurt extended the event’s reach to 22,980 online fans, generating 50,753 unique impressions on Facebook. The IMEX Facebook Page also saw a substantial jump in its viral outreach reaching 99,282 fans that left 309,989 unique impressions.

With the success of the social campaigns at both 2014 IMEX events, Pixe Social reached out to IMEX and told them we were interested in using the same social team idea when we attend the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January 2015. We plan to deploy three teams of two correspondents each to report the ins and outs of the conference and to engage with people who could not attend the show in person via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram by providing insider knowledge of the most exciting attractions at each exhibitor booth.

We invite you to follow the social teams’ live coverage of the Show and to learn more about our activities at #CES2015 by visiting here.

Judging by the First Impression of a Small Business’ Website

As another successful Small Business Saturday concluded this past weekend, entrepreneurs and startups across the country have been swarmed with support from their local communities. Generating a strong base of supportive local customers is crucial to a business’s success, especially in the first couple of months of operation. But how are other potential customers going to learn about your brand? Google of course.

Let’s face it, face-to-face customer interaction has diminished in the last 10 years due to the popularity of ecommerce websites like Amazon, but how can a small business compete? An attractive website is usually a potential buyer’s first impression, and trust us, they’re judging. Here are few helpful tips to building an eye-catching and inviting website that will guarantee your brand to stand out.

Color is Key. According to a recent American Express open forum article, it takes 90 seconds for a customer on your site to form an opinion about your product or service, and 62-90% of that opnion is based on the color alone. Quite an impact, right? Although your logo design may be set in stone, that doesn’t mean your website is confined to those colors. For instance, the Pixe Social logo is black and red, but breaking out of that theme on our website gives us a chance to show some more personality. Do some quick research into how people respond to certain colors and how you want your brand to be received by the online viewers.

Stay in Motion. Websites should not only invite you in with bright colors and powerful messages, but also navigate you around the site. Sliders, image slideshows, and bounce effects are a great way to draw the viewer’s eye along the page and direct their interest to the most important information such as sales or new products. The new Pixe Social website welcomes visitors with a powerful header image, sliding content, and interactive features.

Keep up to Date. An out of date website is one of the quickest ways to turn off any potential customer. Reference dates before 2010 on any content is the first sign that a company isn’t interested in making an impression, and that reflects poorly on their work in general. Make sure to do weekly refreshers updating any new blog posts, photos, or client success

How Marketing Agencies Manage Exhibit Programs

Guest blog post by Michelle Bruno, Bruno Group Signature Events

Many companies rely on marketing and advertising agencies to help them maintain brand consistency and cohesive messaging across various channels including trade show exhibits. Often, exhibitions are just one component of a larger campaign, and the decisions that marketing firms make around graphics, booth design, in-booth activities, and even technology have to fit within some very specific parameters.

A good fit for the audience. As with all marketing initiatives, booth features, especially devices or technologies, have to appeal to the target audience. Something that might be hugely appealing to a hip, tech savvy crowd could easily flop with a more traditional audience. The better bet for marketers is make selections that have broad appeal across different age groups and demographics.

A match for the campaign. Marketing companies are charged with making sure that whatever tactics they choose to employ in a booth reinforce the brand positioning they have developed for their clients. Dan Katz, president of LA ads based in Los Angeles, describes this requirement as making sure the “idea doesn’t wag the campaign.”

Customizable. Colors, images, and taglines are crucially important to marketers. They look for ways to take standard offerings—booth properties, giveaway items, collateral, games—and customize them to fit the client’s marketing strategy. Before LA ads selected Pixe Social’s social marketing solution for use in their client’s trade show exhibit, they made sure they could insert a custom image into the photos.

On trend. As a rule, marketing firms prefer to stay abreast of trends in design, communication, and technology when advising clients. Fleshing out a lead-generation activity based on selfies and social media, for example, is more forward thinking than handing out compact disks or inviting visitors to spin a roulette wheel for prizes (unless it’s a gaming show).

Cost-effective. Marketing companies are the eyes and ears of the client when it comes to a trade show budget. At the same time, they have to make a profit themselves. One way they reach both of those objectives is to seek out suppliers that offer competitive pricing and offerings that complement the agency’s value-added services of strategy, design, project management, and fulfillment.

Easy-to-use. Trade shows are unique environments. Booth staffers are typically much more focused on selling than they are on managing any non-sales activity in the booth. With that need in mind, marketers look for activations that don’t burden the client unnecessarily. LA ads selected a social photo booth for their client because it was an end-to-end solution.

As intermediaries, marketing agencies play a unique role—to meet specific standards (their clients and their own), demonstrate creativity, and reach campaign objectives. They are constantly on the lookout for solutions that can serve their customers and help them bring all of the pieces of the program together easily, quickly, and cost effectively.
